Finished Reeds: These reeds have been clipped to length, have had the tip opening adjusted and if
necessary, scraped and/or sanded. They are ready to play, with consideration to your specific needs, if arranged. They should only
require very subtle adjustment, if any, through the break-in period. A finished reed for the German bassoon may be a stock
model, a standard model, a custom model, or from the Developmental Stockpile (described below).
Blank Reeds: These reeds, once clipped, will be playing reeds. The vast majority will require only
clipping to the most suitable blade length and tip opening adjustment. A few will require a small amount of scraping and/or sanding.
A blank reed for the German bassoon may be a stock model, a standard model or a custom model.
Services
Reed Analysis: Reed analysis is done with the goal of finding a stock or standard reed model that is
similar to your reeds. My recommendation is to have three reeds analysed. These should have once been good playing reeds. They
may be destroyed in the process of analysis. See the Full Selection section of the Model Selection page to read about the methodology
used.
Custom Reed Model Design: See the Customization section of the Model Selection page to find out what
is possible in terms of customization.
Developmental Stockpile
During the development of a reed model, a number of revisions might be necessary to arrive at satisfactory dimensions. However,
the developmental revisions before the final release version may yield some good playing reeds, but with dimensions (usually blade
length) tending to be not quite as expected for that model. Any of these reeds that play well will be put into the Developmental
Stockpile. Reeds from the Developmental Stockpile are sold at a discount.
Ordering Procedure
The easiest way to place an order is to use the pop-up Order Form. You can also communicate your order by e-mail, regular mail,
FAX or telephone. (Contact info availble by pop-up.) Below is a guideline for what information to put in your order, if not using the popup
Order Form, based on product type:
Stock Models: Include model (referenced by wrapping colour, descriptive name, or full model code), quantity,
and finish stage (finished reed or blank reed). The Stock Model Info pop-up can assist in selecting models.
Standard Models: Include model code, quantity, finsh stage (finished reed or blank reed) and wrapping colour.
The Standard Model Info pop-up can assist in selecting models.
Developmental Stockpile Reeds: Include lists of acceptable profile styles, blade lengths, tip extensions,
tube lengths and target bocal.
Please include your preference of shipping service level. More information about this can be found in the
Shipping Info section of this page. If ordering for the first time, please include relevant contact information, such as name,
e-mail address, mailing address, telephone numbers, etc., and any bassoon-related information you wish to divulge, such as instrument
make/model/serial number, bocal make/model, performing environment, and your "position" in the bassoon world (i.e. student, amateur,
professional). The bassoon-related information may be an aid in determining what reed model and adjustments are right for you.
Once I receive your order, I will prepare an invoice and send it to you by appropriate means. My preferred incoicing method is by
attachment of an HTML file to an e-mail. When the invoice is paid, your order will be sent.

Payment Methods
Certified Funds: This includes money orders, bank drafts and certified cheques. I can accept certified
payment in Canadian dollars, U.S. dollars, euros, British pounds, and Japanese yen. Invoice amounts will be in Canadian dollars, but if
you specify a different preferred currency, an additional total in that currency will be included.
PayPal: PayPal is an internet service that allows you to pay with your credit card, as well as other methods
if you have an account with them. It is available in 38 countries. In some countries you need not have an account to pay with a
credit card. At present it is the least expensive service I can enlist that will allow you to pay with a credit card (keeping my prices as
low as possible). This will also be the quickest way that an invoice can be paid. My electronic invoices (html e-mail attachment), will have
a button that when clicked, will take you to a PayPal payment form with relevant fields already filled in. PayPal payment will be in
Canadian dollars, and if your currency is not Canadian dollars, PayPal will take care of the exchange. For more information about PayPal see
www.paypal.com
E-Mail Money transfer: Some on-line banking systems have a service allowing transfer of funds by e-mail.
This procedure requires the inclusion of a question that the receiver must correctly answer to collect the funds. If sending funds by
this method, send to paulb@pbreeds.com and make the answer to the question be "bassoon".
Shipping Info
At present, Canada Post offers the best value for shipping reed orders. Unfortunately, they have a very complex system for
determining postage costs for parcels based on your location. Exact quotes are not always availble before mailing, so approximate rates
are be quoted below. Quoted rates are for up to twelve reeds. For rates for more than twelve reeds or for carriers other than Canada Post,
please be in contact with me for a quote.
