When compared to the Moderate Taper, the Parallel profile style has more blowing resistance, a less responsive attack (requires more breath and embouchure support), a more projecting sound, larger dynamic range and more flexibility of articulation. Proponents would say that it has a sound that carries well, and gives maximum flexibility in articulation and dynamic range. Detractors would say it has a strident, buzzy sound and is too unstable.
